The who’s who of real estate professionals throughout Queensland have been recognised in a gala awards ceremony at Brisbane City Hall last Saturday which was attended by almost 600 members of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ).

REIQ chief Antonia Mercorella said the Awards for Excellence showcased those real estate professionals who had achieved outstanding results to rise to a level above their peers.

“To achieve at this level requires enormous commitment, tireless work and incredible motivation, and the finalists and winners here tonight have successfully demonstrated their ability to do that,” she said.

“It’s an incredible event where hundreds of real estate professionals come together, united by the common goal of striving to be better, committed to improving and staying at the leading edge of their profession.”

Speaking to almost all of real estate professionals in the room, along with invited guests including the Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni, Mercorella praised the broader REIQ membership for their commitment to improving professional knowledge through the REIQ’s continuing professional development program and highlighted the peak body’s lobby work with Government.

“While our membership embraces a relentless pursuit of lifelong learning, our goal is to apply this rigour to all real estate agents, whether they are members of the REIQ or not.

“Our goal is to introduce compulsory continuing professional development to the entire real estate profession and we are lobbying the Palaszczuk Government vigorously to achieve this.

“Compulsory CPD would ensure all Queensland agents maintained their knowledge of the evolving landscape of real estate legislation and this would benefit all consumers,” she said.

“We urge the Government to give consumers that additional level of trust that is crucial to the transaction of buying and selling property,” she said.
